Live-CD (MixOnCD)
The AN.ON Mix Live-CD is a runtime environment for Mixes. You won't need to install anything
on your harddisk to use it, neither will it write or change any data on your harddisk. Just burn
the CD and boot from it. See Using the Live-CD (MixOnCD)
for further installation details.
Configuration
- Use bootable MixOnCD to create and install the mix (yes/no)
Prepares the Mix configuration for MixOnCD usage. This kind of configuration won't
work with a harddisk installation (compiling from sources or
using prebuilt binaries), but
you may switch back to "no" whenever you want.
- Local Network Settings
Tells MixOnCD how to configure the computer's network settings in a way it can access
the internet via the local area network (LAN) it is connected to. It is supposed that the
LAN already has a running internet connection, for example via DSL router. cable modem or
broadband. Please note that WLAN (wireless network) access is currently not supported.
- Dynamic IP configuration
- Automatically configured by DHCP
Tells MixOnCD the get its network settings from a local DHCP server. This is the default configuration and
suitable for most networks. If your local network does not require manual configuration this is the right choice for you.
If automatic configuration is enabled, most of the other options are not needed and disabled.
- Static IP configuration
The following values depend on your router configuration. Read your router manual for further details.
- IP
The IP address that your mix should get in your local subnet. Note that this IP might differ from the IP that is visible
from outside your subnet.
- Subnet mask
The subnet mask of your local subnet. Typically 255.255.255.0 for small subnets.
- Default gateway
The gateway by which you get access to the internet. Typically ends with 1, like 192.168.2.1.
- Interface
The Unix network interface that should be used to connect to the network. This value is optional, default is eth0.
Possible values are, for example, eth0, eth1, eth2,...
- User passwords
As a default, the user accounts 'root' and 'mix' will be created on the CD system, but
without any password set. A remote login on your system will only work with a user
account that has a valid password. Here you have the chance to choose a password that
will be stored in the confguration in an encrypted form.
